Ruposhi pays tribute to her mother - Alpona Mumtaz, an eminent dancer passed away last December but has left behind a rich legacy in the field of dance and music through her school Kathakali. Nusrat Mumtaz Ruposhi, her daughter and an acclaimed violinist, played to an enthralled audience at the National Museum Auditorium on August 16, in her endeavour to pay tribute to her mother’s memories.
Joys and sorrows of violin notes - It is rare nowadays to see live performances of instrumental music in the country. Young violinist Nusrat Mumtaz Ruposhi, however has broken new ground with her commitment to her art. The lone female violinist of the country has successfully staged a number of shows in recent times featuring some brilliant violin notes. On September 27, Ruposhi performed her latest solo recital at the Shishu Academy auditorium.
Ruposhi's solo violin evening - On August 16, Nusrat Mumtaz Ruposhi presented her solo violin evening in memoriam of her mother Alpona Mumtaz, the famous dancer of the country. Six dancers with illuminated pradip performed a dance with the symphony of flute, guitar, rhythm pad and keyboards and Ruposhi added the melancholy tune with her violin. This was followed by Ruposhi's solo violin evening at the National Museum. The title of the first composition was In Honour of Alpana Mumtaz.
